A company providing specialist services to the engineering, aerospace and defence industries was de-merging from a major plc and reforming as a new organisation with an offshoot of a civil service department.

The HR and Industrial Relations issues were very challenging and the new organisation had no internal HR department. We provided considerable support over the first months of the life of the new company, setting up conditions of employment, employment policies and procedures and establishing new working practices.

There were particular issues in connection with TUPE and with harmonisation of conditions of employment.

We do not pretend that the issues were simple nor that every outcome was one that was desired at the beginning but nonetheless the company achieved its objectives in its first year and is on the way to a successful future.
